With a new look, new dress sense, but not a new personality, she arrives at Weirdsister in her Chauffer-driven car.  To her surprise and shock, she is sharing a room with Millie, and immediately informs her that she will fix to have her "removed."  Ethel soon latches on to Nick Hobbes, the enigmatic wizard with a dark past, and he tells her about "The All-Seeing Eye," which sees all their sins and determines whether they enter the college.  Together they use Millie to outwit the Eye and gain entrance to Weirdsister.

 

Ethel is as spoilt as ever, but she is a hard worker when it comes to academics, and becomes Dr Starfinder's Research Assistant.  Ethel resents Millie for the special gift that gave her unusual entrance and also resents the interest that Nick Hobbes shows in her, and she still has a leaning to the use of magic for selfish ends and to gain power.

 

However, University life seems to change Ethel, and by the end of the series she becomes friends with Millie and Cas, and helps to outwit the evil plot of The Whisperer to take over the college, and shows a courage that we never knew she had.
